Set in 15th-century Russia, Andrei Rublev follows the spiritual and artistic crisis of the icon painter Andrei Rublev amid war, brutality, and religious turmoil. Witnessing violence and human suffering, Rublev loses faith in the value of art and takes a vow of silence. In the final episode, a young boy's successful casting of a church bell restores Rublev's belief in creativity and faith.
